First Impressions: Front Door Colors

In Blog by Ron Nathan

Just as the eyes are said to be the windows to the soul, when it comes to your home, your front door can say a lot about the people who live inside.  Upgrading your front door can be a quick and cost effective way to add character to your home.  Painting and staining your new front door can alter your home’s outward appearance as dramatically as a can of paint can change the entire look of a room.  The color you choose says a lot – here are a few examples:

WHITE

First Impressions: Front Door Colors - White

White is a classic color choice for your front door.  White often evokes feelings of peace and serenity.  This color works especially well on cottage-style homes. A crisp white door is for those who are (or would like to be) organized, neat and clean.

RED

First Impressions: Front Door Colors - RedRed is the ideal hue for the traditional American home.  Nothing says “welcome” quite like a red front door.  You will often find red doors on white houses with black shutters.  Red is a bold choice for those who are not afraid of standing out on the block.

BLUE

First Impressions: Front Door Colors - BlueBlue often symbolizes prosperity and abundance.  It also goes hand in hand with tranquility, peace and elegance.  If you have a blue front door, chances are you have an easy go-with-the-flow personality and people flock to you.

PURPLE

First Impressions: Front Door Colors - PurplePurple doors are becoming more and more popular.  This may be largely related to the fact that purple is an energetic color that represents the welcoming of new opportunities.  If your front door is purple, you’re comfortable taking risks and dreaming big. Some may even call you a “free spirit.”

GREEN:

First Impressions: Front Door Colors - GreenGreen is often used to represent growth.  It is a natural choice to pay homage to nature and the world outside your front door.  If your door is green, you care about your home and your community and you have more traditional values.

What color is your front door?  Have we inspired you to make a change?
