Color Trends 2014: Upholstery

In Blog by Ron Nathan

Over the past year, the design field has seen a huge shift towards embracing color. Fashion runways have been overflowing with color and home furnishings are following suit! A shift has been made to step outside the neutral box and make a statement. Some of the hottest color trends right now include pops of Blue, Orange, Green and Pink. Gray has taken on a new role as the bestselling Neutral.

Blue has proven to be a color that provides endless versatility. Used on a whole sofa or as an accent on a chair or pillow, any space designed around blue feels airy and effortless.

Orange is an unexpected color trend in upholstery. It can be used as a bold pop of color or toned down into a rust shade to create the perfect look of sophistication and polish.

Green is so strong in furniture upholstery due to the fact that it easily works with many different palettes and color schemes. Chartruese works well with grays and neutrals to create a transitional look, whereas Mint adds a modern and quirky look to a coral and white color scheme. The ever-popular emerald green becomes sophisticated when paired with black and white.

A pop of pink in a room can add the perfect level of interest and individuality. To create a sophisticated look, try mixing in pink accents with black and white. For a more quirky and urban feel, pop some pink in with yellows and blues.
